Breakfast with the kids
As with every weekend, the girls woke up before everyone else. My three year old came into my room and whispered in my ear, "mommy, can you make oatmeal?" I woke up, and still in a daze, said "off course."
First thing was much neededd coffee! Then, the oatmeal. I like using steelcut oats. It has a heartier texture that the kids and I prefer. The ingredents always change. Sometimes I add fruit and sometimes I add honey. Mostly, I add whatever the kids want. This weekend they adked for regular. I don't think I have 3 ever made just regular plain oatmeal so it took me a moment to realize what they had said.
I cooked the oats with milk and a bit of water. I included cinnamon, pumpkin spice, vanilla extract, and some sugar.
