Eating Healthy On a Budget
Have you ever thought about quitting junk food and eating healthy? If so, has the thought that eating healthy is an expensive thing cross your mind and made you changed your mind?
Trust me you're not alone it has happened to me and to be honest in the past has made me want to give up. The idea that eating healthy requires you to go to Whole Foods or Trader Joe's to eat healthily will annoy anyone.
After really feeling the effects of eating junk, making that change was important. Knowing what I had to cut out of my diet and introduce more of, had me reading diet books and crazy articles online. "Way too much!" For the first couple months we were spending so much on healthy foods and it was too much.
I decided I would do it my way and with meal prepping and cooking dinner for the kids, I needed to be on a dudget. Purchasing healthier foods has been easier and more affordable. Below are some tips I use:
- Planning out what we will be cooking that week.
- Taking all the weekly supermarket flyers and seeing what’s on sale. (Check online for the supermarkets near you and compare prices.)
- Making a list (Indicate which store you will be buying from)
- Eat before leaving the house!!! (Never a good idea to food shop hungry)
- Compare meat deals (This tends to be the most amount of money you will spend)
- Also so check with your local butcher. You will find that purchasing meat at butcher will save you money.
- Go to several fruit and veggie markets to compare prices. (I am not such a big fan of buying my fruits and veggies at the supermarkets; the prices tend to be higher and when pre-packaged I can't see all the veggies and some may have mold.)

This may seem like a lot to do but when taking the time to, you will save money and be able to eat healthily.
