10 Tips To Surviving Your First Year As A Mother
No-one told me the truth about being a mom. There are many things I wish someone had told me before I had my first. These are some of those tips:
- Try to get as much sleep as you can before the baby comes because you will never get a good night's sleep again. Ever.
- When baby sleeps you sleep. Don't try and be super mom.
- Talk to your baby, he/she may not see you for a couple months but they know your voice.
- Breastfeeding is painful but it is also a blessing. Don't give up.
- Poop changes color and consistency. Don't freak out.
- Show your partner that you are there for him as much as he his there for you.
- If you're a single mom, take a moment and breathe. You're doing your best for you and that baby.
- If you feel tired or overwhelmed don't be afraid to ask for help.
- If you feel like there is something off, pay attention to that feeling. Better safe than sorry.
- Everyone will have an opinion on how you should raise your baby.
- Don't forget you're a person too. Take time for yourself. In order to take care of another human, you first have to be able to take care of yourself.
- Enjoy being a mother.
We as moms strive to be the best we can. In order to do this, we have to be realistic with ourselves and realize that we can't be perfect. We all make mistakes but should always try to learn from them. My oldest is seven now and with each child, I still learn new things about how to be a better mom.
