What Happens on a Snow Day

On seveal days here in  New York City we were hit with a snow storms left and right. Like in January we had what the news was calling a Bomb Cyclone. The day before at work I got notice that daycare would be closed. That night it was official, New York City public schools were closed. YAY! The kids had a snow day. I on the other hand had to get ready that morning, did my makeup as simple as possible because it was already snowing hard by 6am. By 7am, the kids were up and I decided that I would be staying home with the hubs and kids. "Yay! Mommy's staying home too!" Breakfast was had and then the awful.... What do we do all day?

With some creativity and mommy magic that we all have, I made an extra pot of coffee. The little ones sat down to watch Sesame Street while big one decided that she wanted to spend her morning on the couch reading and watching videos on her tablet. YUP! I was left to my own devises and got bored so quickly that I told the hubby "Maybe I should have gone into the office." He has the opportunity to work from home when weather won't allow him into the office and I sit there and online shop! No, Im joking. I sat in the livingroom with the kids and played with puzzles and games with them while drinking coffee.

We gave the little ones pasta for lunch and then put them down for a nap. While they napped the big one watched her show "Teen Titans Go!" and I read. I have been reading the book Uniquely Human by Barry M. Prizant, PhD. Reading during the day is a rare activity at home since there is always something that I have to do or should be doing. When the kids woke up they all played games together while I started dinner.

A warm cozy winter storm sometimes is needed to take a step back, take a breath, and take in the little things. Love my family and the feelings that bring to  my life. What do you do on a snow day?
