Keeping Keto During the Holiday
The Holiday season has come and hit us like a tone of bricks… When the holiday season comes around everyone gets hit with, Turkeys, Baked Ham’s, Pies, Cakes and so much more yummy food. On top of that, every coffee shop like Starbucks has their holiday coffee drinks, Toasted White Chocolate Cocoa 58g of Carbs, Peppermint Cocoa 68g, Peppermint White Hot Cocoa 75g, and the oh so yummy Snickerdoodle Hot Cocoa 53g. All these carbs and it's just for a Grande, me personally I grab the Venti. Let's face it most of the time people throw their diets out the window when the holiday starts. That's why you see loads of people at the gym when January rolls around. It’s usually when gyms make most of their profits.
I have been holding on to keeping Keto during this holiday season. Mostly because after being on the diet for so long that when I do eat more carbs than usual, after a couple of days my body pays for it. I get the question; how I stay Keto during this season where there's so many yummy treats and meals around. I have to be completely honest before the holiday season started I would keep my net carbs under 25. Now I keep them under 45, I know that increasing my carbs are not that great but I can still remain in Ketosis while doing so. I have to be realistic with myself too. I like everyone have moments of weakness but I do try to keep it going.
What I have been doing is making keto friendly meals for hubby and me during the holiday. For example, Zucchini Lasagna, Cauliflower Mash, and Gravy and keep me substitute my sugars. Knowing that my body will pay for it is usually my drive to keep me keto. Remember that Pinterest is your best friend for keto-friendly recipes. There are so many Christmas meals that will help you get through the season. Also remembering to stay active has helped a lot. Also monitoring the food I eat, I always have my phone with me with my trusty MyFitnessPal App in handy to keep me in check.
This Christmas we will be in the city with my sister and there’s this amazingly yummy signature latin alcoholic drink Coquito. This drink alone has a bunch of sugar is that it has condensed milk. Oh yeah, and my job this year is to bring the desert. Yup it's my job to bring the sugar! The only thing I have to stay clear from is Coquito and desert. But I might not… Cheat day
