Potty Training!!!!

The words some dread, the words some look forward to. YAY! No more money on diapers or pull ups. Yup we all go through it as parents. In my case, my oldest was simple. She wanted to wear panties like some of the kids at her daycare. I thought she was a but young. She was two and we still had time. She persisted; she wanted panties and that was it. I read several techniques on potty training. The three day method, the every 30-40 minute method, the patient approach. I decided since I had Friday off we would do the three day method; wear panties and see how she reacted to peeing on herself.

Her: "AHHH!!! Mommy I peed on the floor! I'm wet!"
Me: "Its ok baby, next time lets try and make it to the bathroom."
Her: "Ok mom, I don't like being wet. That's nasty!"
Me: "I bet, do you want a pull up or a new panty?"
Her: "A new panty mommy. I'm a big girl."

After a couple wet slips she made it to the bathroom. She hated the sensation of having a wet diaper. THANK GOD.

Okay, I thought. For the next one I'll do the same thing. Oh was I plain old wrong. She's three and still doesn't want to use the potty. Having a 19 month old and a three year old buying so many diapers can be a headache. I tried leaving her with panties, and even some cute PJ shorts on so she can be comfy. It did not matter. I have spent days cleaning pee and poop off the floor. YUP! POOP!!!

I finally realized that she was not ready. I can't force it. I was on my phone one day and saw a cute app from Pull Ups. I said what the hell, I downloaded it and decided to give it a go when I got home from work. Not only was she excited, she waited to hear the timer go off to tell me "Mommy, let's go peep." It's still a working progress, but I have to say this app actually has her participating in potty training.

Did your potty training go smoothly?

Thanks

xoxo
