Ipsy's Generation Beauty
The weekend of the 13-14th was a fun, I had a girls night Saturday with some mom friends. Sunday I attended Generation Beauty by Ipsy, it’s actually a weekend-long event that happens once a year. This year was my first year going. I couldn’t go on Saturday due to my mommy duties during the day (girls dance and some kids appointments). Sunday I was up at 6 am got ready and met a couple of friends so we can head downtown to the Javits Center. I must be honest, my friends and I were running on 3 hours of sleep because of the girls night. I anticipated the event to be crazy and fun, with new products that will be launching soon.
Oh, Boy was I right, we purchased the early admission tickets so that we can enter the convention an hour before everyone else 10 am. When you entered, you get a backpack full of beauty products for free! Yup, I said it free. A big sign with the company IPSY was placed dead smack in the middle. There were booths everywhere that had lines of people waiting to either purchase products at a discounted price or get a free product. Most companies were giving discounts of 20-30% and 50% off retail prices. For a makeup lover like me, who wouldn’t be excited to be there, I was just tired.
I can’t go any further without giving a humongous shoutout to my dear friend Ruby. She goes almost every year and does the whole weekend event. She let me know ahead of time how things would turn out and what to expect. Her biggest advice was to wear comfy shoes, actually what she said was “Leggings and some sneakers.” You are probably wondering if early admission is 10 am why to leave at 7 am to be there at 8 am. Well, that’s because the line for early admission gets crowded and you want to be their early to get the good stuff.
Running on 3 hours of sleep and almost 3 cups of coffee, I was pretty good to last for a couple of hours. The lines where long but the payoff was great, Ipsy had meet and greats with beauty gurus and youtube creators. Which to me was exciting, me being a makeup lover who started by watching these beauty gurus on youtube. What was funny was while waiting on the line to pick up some skincare, Ruby text me saying that yesterday was insane and today was lite. I looked around and all these women in this room and this was lite! I couldn’t imagine what the day before looked like.
I came home with a bunch of great items and had an amazing time. Will defiantly be attending next year. See you there Ipsy.
