DIY Backdrop Stand
Now that the boy is getting bigger we put him in his own room which used to be our office. So with our bedroom being our half office/half filming room, we figured we should pick up some backdrops on Amazon.com. Most of the ones we saw came out to about the same price. This one, for example, is $30.99 as I write this and came with 3 clamps. The hubs decided he would build one for me to save.
At Home Depot he purchased two 10 ft. and one 2 ft. 1/2 in. PVC pipes. We got the 10 ft. pipes cut in half to have a 5 sq ft. backdrop stand. He bought four 1/2 in. PVC tees and four 1/2 in. PVC elbows to use as the leg stands. Finally, he bought two 1/2 in. elbows to connect the top bar. He also bought four spring clamps to hold the backdrops in place. After everything was put together, we have a stand that cost us less than $20.00.
Knowing that we would save some money I went to Mood fabrics and picked up some fabrics that I could use at backdrops. I purchased two yards of fabric in each color. Don't mind that I have no makeup it was a test run to see how it worked. It was great and we saved. YAY!!!
