New to Gardening

When I was younger my mother would take me to Puerto Rico where I learned how to tend to the animals and garden. The gardening wasn’t something I was very good at so I spent my time with the animals mostly, along with having fun. As a youngster, I did not appreciate it much but as an adult I do. It taught me to value what we had. I would like to teach the kids the same.

Having moved into our new home almost 7 months ago I am now sprouting the urge to garden. I am not a person with a green thumb, Juan is. I usually kill plants within a week or two, it is sad really. We have a nice size yard, with cement in the middle with the surrounding areas on dirt and a few bushes. This summer spending time out there and seeing our neighbors yards and the way they have their plants set up, I want to garden so much more. The kids want to plants more flowers and plants with color.

Over the last couple of weeks, we have taken a couple of trips to our local hardware store and Target to pick up some gardening tools like a hose, a hose nozzle, and some seeds. Hopefully, we get some beautiful plants and veggies going, since planting these with the kids I find myself looking for more things to plant. Along with some cool Patio Furniture to go along with the upcoming look.

My Goal for our little garden would be to look like these, I found these on Pinterest:

Hopefully with some time and patience it will look like this, I of course would like more color but the idea of a full garden space is what I am looking for. I will do an update soon to see how its coming along.
