Cooking with your Spouse

Eating food is necessary for living, we all know this. Well at least I hope we do. Our eating habits may change but eating together with your family, weather with your spouse, your kids or everyone all together. I know my evening meals are all of the above. Some days it's me and the kids, on some days it's me and the hubbs, and the some all together.  

Cooking can be so therapeutic and can be so relaxing, I know some who don't like anyone in the kitchen till food is done. I on the other hand love when the kids volunteer to help or when the hubbs and I are making dinner together. We live such busy lives that sometimes it feels we don't get enough time to catch up with each other. Making a meal together is something we both love. He is a slow cooker and I am a quick cooker lol. Together we meet in the middle, it feels amazing.  

We have several recipes that we love to make together.  When the weekend comes and it's a fairly quite day we make burgers for dinner. The kids like picking their toppings (cheese, tomatoes, avocado, mayo, ketchup) what ever their in the mood for. We make mini burgers for the baby since he only has 6 teeth. 

This past weekend the hubs and I decided to have one each with a bun and the other with a salad. His trick is to eat the salad first then burger, save the best for last. He has been on a ketogenic diet (I'll talk more about it in another post) so he has been keeping his carb intake less the 25grams daily. So having the burger with a bun was a treat.  I completely cheated and had the burger with the bun first then the salad. Boo for me because I wanted another one right after :(

The next time you start to cook a meal invite the hubs into the kitchen with you, you never know he may enjoy it.
